INTRODUCTION
It is a PAN-India special campaign launched by Ministry of Law and Justice to mark national celebration of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’. It is a collective initiative by Department of Justice and NALSA to provide access to legal aid for every citizen.
OBJECTIVE
State Legal services collaborated with NALSA to develop a strong framework which will ensure legal aid delivery and empowerment of the citizens. It aims to offer immediate, affordable and quick justice to people, especially needy and underprivileged. It is a path-breaking step towards fulfilling the goal of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas and Sabka Nyaya.
KEY POINTS
- The drive was launched country-wide from 17th September 2021 – 2nd October 2021.
- The initiative is based on the idea of inclusive governance and giving voice to voiceless.
- It involves mass registration under Tele-Law. The ‘Tele-Law’ is a medium through which Panel Lawyers will provide pre-litigation consultation service to beneficiaries.
- The program will be executed through a big network of 51,434 Common Service Centres. These centres will cover 50,000 Gram Panchayats in 633 districts in all States and UTs.
- To promote the drive among people, more than 25,000 banners in regional languages were displayed at Common Service Centres.
- The login drive has led to exponential growth up to 138% over daily average, with the registration of 5,480 beneficiaries.
- 4,100 Legal Aid Clinics are established where 37,000 Panel-Lawyers and Para-Legal volunteers will provide service to citizens.
- Awareness programs have been organized at village level in 672 districts.
- 185 mobile vans and other vehicles are deployed to show-case films and documentaries on Access to Justice program.
