OVERVIEW
- On September 17, 2021, railways minister Ashwini Vaishnav launched a program under the aegis of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas yojana named rail Kaushal Vikas yojana.
- As a part of 75 years of independence ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’, entry-level training will be provided to the youth in industry-relevant skills through railway training institutes, under-rail Kaushal Vikas Yojana.
- Training will be provided to 50,000 candidates over 3 years, under-rail Kaushal Yojana.
- Initially, the training will be provided to 1000 candidates in four trades – welder, electrician, fitter, and machinist.
- From across the country, a total of 75 railway training institutes have been shortlisted to provide training.
- It will be completely free of cost and the participants will be selected based on online applications.
- Based on marks in matriculation, the selection process will follow a transparent mechanism.
- Regarding the information of training programs, a single source nodal website will be developed where you will get notification inviting application, selection results, selected candidate list, study material, and final assessment.
- All trainees after completion of their training will be awarded certificates and will have to undergo a standardized assessment in their respective trade by the National Rail & Transportation Institute.
- For helping them utilize their learnings and enhance their capacity, they will also be given toolkits.
- 10th pass candidates and ages between 18 and 35are eligible to apply.
- Based on the training, the training participants will not be able to seek employment.
- The main aim of this yojana is to bring qualitative improvement and to impart training skills to the youth in various trades.
- This will provide a major boost to skill India mission.
- This will improve the employability of youth as well as upgrade the skills of self-employers.
