SWACHH SURVEKSHAN GRAMEEN 2021

OVERVIEW

  •  It is launched on September 9, 2021, under the Swachh Bharat mission phase 2, as a part of the ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’.
  •  It will help in accelerating the ODF plus interventions and results in India.
  •  It will be organized by an expert agency.
  •  In 2018 and 2019, Swachh Survekshan Grameen was commissioned by the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DDWS).
  •  It is an annual sanitation and cleanliness survey of rural India which will rank districts, villages, and states in India based on key quantitative and qualitative sanitation parameters.
  •  It is a vehicle that creates people’s movement (Janandolan).
  •  It is not just a ranking exercise. It is a detailed agreement that has been created to guide and analyze the ranking of districts based on their performance on key quality and quantitative parameters.
  •  As a part of the Grameen Survekshan, 17,475 villages in 698 districts across India will be surveyed. 87,250 public places namely schools, public health centers, Anganwadis, bazaars, religious places across all 17,475 villages will be surveyed. Approximately 1,74,750 households will be asked to share their feedback on Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM)-related issues.
  •  For sharing the feedback on sanitation-related issues an application has been developed for survekshan which will be provided to citizens.
  •  The main areas where Swachh Survekshan Grameen has its main focus are –

1. Menstrual hygiene management

2. Solid and liquid waste management

3. ODF sustainability and ODF plus implementation
