NATIONAL SINGLE WINDOW SYSTEM LAUNCHED | UPSC

INTRODUCTION

  • The National Single Window System (NSWS) for investors and companies was inaugurated by the Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal on September 22, 2021. He remarked that the establishment of the Single Window System is a significant step towards Atmanirbhar Bharat.
  • Piyush Goyal, also stated that the site will relieve people from the burden of running to government offices for registrations and clearances.
  • In response to the negative impact of the COVID-19 epidemic on the Indian economy, Piyush Goyal stated that India is on course to become one of the world’s fastest-growing economies with a speedy recovery. Also, he stated that the NSWS will strengthen other initiatives such as Startup India, Make in India, and the Public Sector Undertakings (PLI) Scheme.

SIGNIFICANCE OF NATIONAL SINGLE WINDOW SYSTEM – 

  • For investors, the National Single Window System will serve as a one-stop-shop for clearances and approvals.
  • Through ‘End to End’ facilitation, all solutions will be available with a single click.
  • The portal will offer Accountability, Transparency, and Responsiveness to the ecosystem, with all data accessible through a single dashboard.

KEY DETAILS OF THE SYSTEM –

  • As of now, the National Single Window System has approvals from 18 federal departments and nine states and by December 2021, a total of 14 central departments and 5 states would have been added.
  • An applicant dashboard will be accessible to apply, track, and reply to queries on the portal.
  • Common Registration & State Registration Form, Know Your Approval (KYA), Document Repository & E-Communication are available through the National Single Window System.
  • According to the union minister, the portal is a business facilitator. The Indian government has collaborated with stakeholders, industry, and the general public, and the outcome has been game-changing initiatives.
