- Advanced chaff technology has been developed by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) on august 19, 2021, for the protection of fighter jets of the Indian Air Force against hostile radar targets.
- Chaff technology is given to the industries for producing in large quantities so as meet the annual requirement of the Indian air force.
- The Indian air force has already started the process of orientation of technology after the successful completion of trials.
- Defence Minister Rajnath Singh IAF, DRDO, and the whole industry termed this technology as one more great step of DRDO towards Aatmanirbhar Bharat, after the successful development of this technology.
- The defense laboratory has developed the advanced chaff material and chaff cartridge-118/I in partnership with the High Energy Materials Research Laboratory (HEMRL), Pune fulfilling all the requirements of the Indian air force.
- The advanced chaff technology is used by militaries all around the world to safeguard their assets such as naval vessels, aircraft.
- According to DRDO, the protection of aircraft is the primary concern in today’s World because of the advancement in radar threats.
